12:18 pm - New Books!
It's Saturday afternoon, and I'm sitting here watching the Best Year Ever on VH1 cause there is nothing else to do, so why not list the books that I got this week. It seems that everything this week is all about being a little late.

This is what I got in no particular order:

Ultimate Spider-Man #87
The Ultimates #9
Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #3
Powers #15
Gotham Central
Strangers in Paradise
Demo TPB
The Walking Dead vol 4 tpb

I think I got more, but I think my lovely fiancee had hidden away the rest of the comics.

The column should be up some point today.

Lets just say, always post your column up before going to the company holiday party.

You might come home feeling a little tired after all the drinking and dancing you did.

This morning as I was helping unpack the boxes for new comic book day, I came across a new promotional poster that Marvel sent.

Now, it's not unusual to come across a poster promoting some new book or item. Usually DC will send them for their new statues and sometimes for a new series that is coming out.

What I find amusing about this promotional poster is, well, the poster itself. It's a black poster, about 11 x 14 I'll say. On top, in a smaller white font it says, MARVEL 2006. Ok, sure whatever. Now, it's whats underneath that is bothering me.

In big giant red letters it says WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU ON? If you look in the background of the big giant red letters, you can see a penciled drawing of many of the Marvel Superheros.

Now my question is, whose on what side? What side are we choosing? Why are there sides? I don't get it. What are the sides? Mutants vs normals? Marvel vs Dc, Me vs this poster? I just don't know.

And then the other side is a promotion for Next Wave #1 and Daughters of the Dragon #1. Are they against each other? I'm so confused.

If you know, please let me know. This poster will be my undoing if I don't know.

9:19 pm - My thoughts on this weeks comics. Some spoilers might run abound.
If you haven't read all the books. I might spoil some things.

So, I've read a bunch of comics this week. Most were quite good, some better then others.

New Avengers, rocking my world. But I still am not completely sold on this whole Ronin thing. Look at all those pages with that character and tell me that's a female. If so, she is wearing a whole lot of padding. But the ending page made up for any misdoubt I was feeling art wise.

I read the new issue of X-Men. All I can say about the last page is, What?! I couldn't even speak my reaction the other night when I read it. Is it a good thing, bad thing? Is it even real? I have no idea.

And how can I forget the new issue of the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe X-Men 2005. Thanks Marvel, for including Jubilee in that handbook, mutant powers and all. I'm guessing this was put together waay before the idea of House of M. It was such an odd pairing of characters, especially ones that aren't even X-Men, nor mutants anymore.

More thoughts to come later.

11:13 pm - Comics!
Once again, it is that glorious day, new comic book day. And here I will present to you, in no specific order, my new comics for the week. So without further ado, I present to you:

Dani's Comic Goodness

Generation M #1
Marvel Holiday Special
Ultimate Fantastic Four #25
Wolverine #36 - I'm curious to see what this new "origin" storyline is going to be
New Avengers #13 -Ronin, yeah I know who you are. Good idea, bad drawing.
PvP Volume 3 TPB
The Walking Dead vol 4
Teen Titans vol 4
Amazing Spider-Man vol 10

So, it looks like a small week for me this week. I've also got other books sitting on my lap, but those are mostly my fiancee's. We've got Exiles, but I'm way behind on the storyline. I'll just wait till Marvel busts out the new trade. And I've got Sentry, but I forgot to read the first two issues. Maybe I'll dig through the piles of backstock we've got sitting on the floor and try to fish out those two other issues.

That is all for now. Hopefully I'll do a few mini reviews of some of the books after I read them.

12:17 am - The first entry
Hey everyone and welcome to the ramblings of a fangirl.

I'm your host Dani and I write a column on comicsnexus.com called Fangirl Ramblings every Friday. It's all about a female perspective on the comic book world. I've been a comic book fan for over ten years, and worked in the comic book retail industry for over 7 years, giving me a unique perspective on this little industry.

This livejournal is my connection to the whole blogosphere. I have a tendency during the week to have all these thoughts and feelings about what is going on in the comic book world, but they usually don't get included into my column. This is a way for me to talk about what I'm reading and other things that are going on and meet and greet with other fellow fans.

I can't promise that this will be updated on any kind of regular schedule, but I'll do my best to write as much as I can.
